Withers & Ravenel has a proven history demonstrating environmentally sensitive and socially responsible design practices. We believe that sustainability and “green” design co-exist with functionality, cost effectiveness, and overall design excellence. Beginning with project inception and prior to the schematic design phase through construction, our professionals look at functional, cost effective, and sustainable solutions to lower costs over the life of the project. Our professionals including civil engineers, landscape architects,  environmental engineers,  and horticulturists include LEED accredited staff who focus on sustainable energy efficient design and Low Impact Development (LID).

LEED
Withers & Ravenel fully supports the US Green Building Council and its mission. Withers & Ravenel is a corporate member of the USGBC with over 25% of its staff LEED Accredited including engineers, landscape architects and planners who are leaders in sustainable and innovative design solutions. LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process and allows them to successfully demonstrate an understanding of environmentally sensitive and socially responsible green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System.

Stormwater Management and Low Impact Development
Withers & Ravenel has extensive experience in the design and implementation of environmentally conscious Stormwater Management practices and Low Impact Development (LID) techniques. Withers & Ravenel’s stormwater engineering specialists have successfully designed water quality structures, wet ponds, stormwater wetlands, bioretention basins, rain gardens, and various other types of Best Management Practices (BMP's). Having worked with clients to meet a wide range of water quality criterion, we have gained a unique edge in understanding all angles of stormwater management to provide the most comprehensive services available.

Renewable Energy
Withers & Ravenel professional engineers and geologists and planners offer solutions inspecific renewable energy (RE) applications in companion with incentives created in 2007 by the North Carolina Senate Bill 3 and Federal stimulus funds for renewable energy projects in 2009. Specific applications include Resource Recovery Power Generation utilizing Processed Refuse Fuel; Solar Energy; and Hog-Farm Bio-Gas Power.
