So, Hayley, what is your role at WithersRavenel?
I am a summer intern primarily working with Land Development in the Raleigh office.
What do you like most about working here so far?
I really enjoy the environment and collaborative atmosphere of working in the Raleigh office. It’s also interesting to be working on so many different projects, and to have something new to do every day.
You’re entering your senior year at Clemson. Any big plans after graduation?
I’d like to travel for a few months, then start getting work experience in all different areas to figure out what I am passionate about.
Being in Clemson’s Civil Engineering Program must be tough. What would you say has had the biggest influence so far in pursuing your degree?
My dad has always taught me to be innovative and creative as long as I can remember, and always has been a math and science geek with me. All of that combined led me straight to engineering.
What would you say are some career lessons you’ve learned thus far?
Be open to new opportunities, don’t be afraid to ask for help, and try to learn or experience something new any chance you get.
Enough about work—if you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you’d buy?
A house and boat on Lake Keowee (to always have somewhere to stay for Clemson Football games).
Hayley, we are so glad you have chosen to spend your summer with us exploring the many facets of engineering! We hope you take this experience and carry it with you as you continue on your journey.
