The Survey CAD Technician II is responsible for supporting Project Managers, Directors, and survey teams through the creation, management, and verification of high-quality survey-related CAD deliverables. This role ensures accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company standards while driving the efficient production of survey drawings and technical documentation.
The position plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing CAD processes and standards, while also providing guidance on best practices across project teams. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in surveying CAD software, demonstrates a high level of attention to detail, and operates with a proactive, self-motivated approach. Success in this role requires the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, manage multiple priorities, and contribute to the mentorship and development of junior staff.
Technical Duties
- Draft and assemble CAD drawings from survey notes, sketches, and existing plans.
- Ensure all drawings comply with company, industry, and regulatory standards.
- Perform QA/QC reviews on your work and that of others.
- Maintain organized project files, revisions, and documentation.
- Create technical deliverables using CAD software with minimal supervision.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of CAD processes, procedures, and standards.
- Mentor junior CAD staff and assist with training on best practices.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Directors to ensure projects meet scope, schedule, and budget.
- Analyze technical challenges and propose solutions for supervisor review.
Client & Business Development
- Represent the firm through active participation in industry, community, and civic engagements to strengthen brand presence and market visibility.
- Identify and communicate opportunities to expand existing client relationships through cross-functional collaboration and value-added services.
- Support business development efforts by fostering strong client interactions and contributing to a positive client experience throughout project delivery.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- 5+ years of survey CAD experience (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, and/or MicroStation)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-focused
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and mentor others
Preferred Qualifications:
- CST Level III or higher
- Associate Degree in Geomatics, Surveying, or a related technical field
