Confluence 2022 learning sessions focus on stormwater solutions, adaptability

“Confluence: The WithersRavenel Stormwater Workshop” will be virtual in 2022, with one-hour daily sessions Feb. 7-10. The sessions will have a strong focus on building adaptability into long-term plans. Topics include:

Feb. 7: “A Practical Guide for MS4s: 2022 and Beyond.” Jeanette Powell, MS4 Program Coordinator at the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, will speak about the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program. She’ll provide an overview of ongoing compliance topics while identifying key issues for 2022.

Feb. 8: A panel discussion on proactive planning strategies related to decision-making on stormwater utility creation (or not). The panel will include WithersRavenel stormwater experts along with municipal leaders, including Michael Huffman, CPMSM, Stormwater Administrator for the City of Hendersonville; and Noah Parsons, CPMSM, CSM, Water Infrastructure Division Manager for the City of Wilson.

Feb. 9: “Creating an Adaptable Stormwater Program.” The focus of this session presented by WithersRavenel stormwater and asset management professionals will be using life-cycle modeling to understand your stormwater program, its needs, establishing goals, and successfully managing system assets.

Feb. 10: “Using your stormwater utility funds wisely.” WithersRavenel financial professionals will discuss planning along with ARP infrastructure funding. Focuses include project-specific funding and short- and long-term financial management as it relates to recent and upcoming government allocations.
