Technical Project Manager (PE Required)

Our Raleigh Land Development Team is looking for a Technical Project Manager.

Technical Project Managers are registered professionals in the Civil Engineering industry that lead and support other dedicated, skilled engineers, planners, landscape architects, or other technical staff from both a project and team perspective. They are responsible for their designs and associated deliverables and serve as a senior technical advisor and practice leader within the group. Responsibilities include project coordination, communication, and compliance with best practice processes and standards, as well as promotion of our WithersRavenel culture and core values. Project and Client Management

Technical

  • Lead the creation of preliminary and completed layouts, design concepts, and detailed design drawings, so that they meet our company and industry standards and codes
  • Research, obtain, and analyze standards/codes/data required by client and jurisdiction coordinating with technical staff as necessary to accurately and efficiently develop plans
  • Exercise judgement on details of work and technical concepts and theoretical design and apply to real world situations
  • Oversee and review work by technical and professional staff that relates to work under the Professional’s Responsible Charge
  • Prepare planning and design documents, reports, and calculations. Organize all revisions of documents per Company policies
  • Stamp and seal own work and work performed by those under direct supervision, per governing board and professional, ethical rules
  • Work with technical staff to create and administrate the technical scope of work, schedule, and budget while reviewing drawings for completeness and accuracy (QA/QC); analyze and propose QA/QC improvements
  • Analyze technical problems; devise new or improved techniques, approaches, and alternative solutions; and communicate those to others in the Department

Personnel and Team Leadership

  • Lead, supervise, and monitor direct reports to achieve the goals and strategies for the Team and Department
  • Participate in Department/Company recruitment efforts
  • Create a positive environment; lead and engage in Company, Department, and Team meetings routinely, team building efforts, and community involvement
  • Actively coach team members to meet performance goals; handling issue resolution with HR and supervisors as needed.

Client and Business Development

  • Participate in civic and community events
  • Seek opportunities for cross-selling to enhance and expand our existing client relationships during and after projects
  • Assist in the creation of technical expertise information for Marketing purposes

Required qualifications include:

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in North Carolina (or able to obtain through reciprocity)
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • 4 to 8+ years of experience in Civil Engineering
  • Ability to develop submittal responses to RFQs/RFPs
  • Ability to market/represent the company in a positive and professional manner
  • 3+years of experience in leading and mentoring teams
  • Self-motivated, engaged, and team-oriented with the ability to work independently
  • Execute multiple tasks under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
  • Understand planning and/or design concepts and methods and challenge convention for the benefit of the Department
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
