How can North Carolina successfully grow its inventory of greenways? An upcoming workshop aims to provide parks and recreation planners and professionals with answers to that question.
The Funding Greenways, Parks and Trails workshop will be March 12 at Morganton Community House. The event is the latest in a Growing Greenways series from N.C. State’s Recreation Resources Service, with support from the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation and the Trust for Public Land.
The main focus of the workshop is to provide attendees with information on financing for greenways, trails and other parks projects. Speakers will talk about numerous funding strategies, including grants, loans, corporate sponsorships, partnerships with private entities, bond referendums and other options. Attendees will then be able to apply lessons and techniques in their hometowns and workplaces.
