15 Jun WithersRavenel’s Laura Elliott graduates from Leadership Greensboro
Leadership Greensboro has a new group of graduates which includes Laura Elliott of WithersRavenel.
Leadership Greensboro is a nine-month leadership program sponsored by the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. The 2020 class focused on understanding and alleviating poverty in the Greensboro area.
“I got the best possible introduction to my new home through Leadership Greensboro – its industry, growth and development, schools and colleges, demographics, and its critical issues,” Elliott said. “We had a city tour, visited businesses, and I got to be a principal-for-a-day at a Guilford County high school.”
Elliott said the program gave her greater awareness of some of Greensboro’s challenges, particularly related to affordable and safe housing. She also better understands the many nonprofits tackling housing issues, along with food insecurity, child care gaps, early childhood development, and other community needs.
“Leadership Greensboro was a fantastic experience,” Elliott said. “I am so grateful to the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce for accepting me into the program, and thankful to WithersRavenel for sponsoring and supporting me.”
Additionally, Elliott serves as a mentor with Campus Greensboro. This summer, she is working with an engineering student from North Carolina A&T.
Elliott has been with WithersRavenel since 2018 and is a more recent addition to our Greensboro office. A Project Geologist, Elliott works with clients on environmental and other projects in the Triad and throughout the state.
Elliott graduated from The College of William & Mary, and earned her graduate degree from Vanderbilt University. Before joining WithersRavenel, she spent three years working for the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Resources.
Congratulations to Laura and all the members of the graduating class of Leadership Greensboro 2020!
