Petroleum Remediation

Fuel, heating oil, fumigants, and solvents have been stored in underground storage tanks (USTs) and above-ground storage tanks (ASTs) since the late 1800s. But even with the advent of liners, coatings, and secondary containment, these tanks can degrade and leak over time. When a leak from a tank is discovered, state regulatory agencies require that assessment and cleanup be performed under the direction of a licensed Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer.

WithersRavenel has a full-service environmental department that provides turn-key solutions for the identification and remediation of potential soil and groundwater contamination from USTs, ASTs, and spills. Our clients include commercial, industrial, institutional, and municipal entities, and we have held multi-year contracts with several state agencies to investigate these types of releases. Our successful management of tank closures, environmental assessments, and remediation projects has helped prevent unexpected delays during construction. By monitoring federal, state, and local regulations as well as changes in UST Trust Fund policies, we enable clients to achieve regulatory compliance and, where available, reimbursement for eligible assessment and remediation costs.
