Henderson County Celebrates Park Expansion
The overcast skies and light rain didn’t dissuade Henderson County officials and community members from attending the groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the expansion of Berkeley Hills Park. March 31 marked a significant day as Henderson County broke ground to mark the Berkeley Mills Park Sports Complex expansion.
Armed with golden shovels, Henderson County commissioners and stakeholders turned soil, signifying the start of construction for this highly anticipated project.
Set to open in 2026, Berkeley Mills Park Sports Complex will include four artificial turf soccer fields, six tennis courts, parking at the historic baseball field, a new softball field, and onsite utilities and stormwater. Funded through ARPA, this $9 million facility expansion will offer significant new athletic amenities to local sports organizations.
The historic baseball field will remain intact – established in 1949, the ballpark is a cornerstone landmark for Henderson County.
As the project engineer, WithersRavenel provided design engineering services and will oversee construction; Tennoca Construction Company is the contractor.
