YMCA is the First in Pittsboro, NC
On a beautiful spring-like March day, the excitement for the opening of the new Chatham Park YMCA was in the air. A large crowd gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the much-anticipated Chatham Park YMCA.
The new 36,000-square-foot YMCA facility sprawls nearly 25 acres and is the first in Chatham County. Featuring state-of-the-art amenities, the YMCA has two outdoor pools – one of which is year-round.
Unique YMCA Features
The YMCA’s fitness center has equipment, free weights, and studios. It also has a gymnasium for basketball and pickleball players. A amenity unique to this YMCA is the ‘airnasium,’ an outdoor gymnasium with a roof.

As the engineer and landscape architect for this project, WithersRavenel provided conceptual planning, schematic design, design development, and the preparation of detailed construction drawings. Additionally, WithersRavenel provided construction administration and observation to ensure the project’s successful execution. LS3P is the architect.
