WithersRavenel is excited to welcome Gary Warner as Director of Parks and Recreation. A licensed Professional Landscape Architect and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the American Society of Landscape Architects, and the Council of Landscape Architects Registration Boards, Gary has managed planning and design projects for more than 25 years. Through his work in the public and private sectors, he has deepened his knowledge of the U.S. Southeast and the challenges associated with designing sustainable and livable communities.
Gary specializes in site master planning, urban master planning, and parks and open-space system planning on city- and county-wide scales. He regularly presents on these and other related topics, and he has garnered an impressive 14 awards for his work, including 10 honors from the Florida chapters of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the American Planning Association. Recognized as a specialist in the design of inclusive play areas for children of various abilities, he has made it his mission to educate and share his knowledge of the planning and design issues associated with inclusive places.
Gary recently relocated to North Carolina after a six-year stint in Atlanta, Georgia; prior to that, he had spent the first two decades of his career living and working in Florida. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a Master of Landscape Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture.
