Geographic information systems, or GIS, help us create, manage, capture, analyze, and hopefully better understand different types of data and our world. Each year on November 20, we celebrate GIS Day, which was launched in 1999. Today, we recognize the impact GIS has not only on our business, but also on our society and better understanding of our world and its geographic data.
At WithersRavenel, our talented GIS professionals wear many hats. We can help clients create and expand GIS systems and databases within their communities. Our GIS team members also work on a variety of project types with our engineering teams, such as water, sewer, stormwater, asset management, and others. Whether they are making maps, organizing and analyzing data, or even training others in GIS skills, our team members are dedicated to solving thorny data problems.
This year, our staff has created an interactive story map to educate people about GIS. The feature also introduces our GIS team members and shares fun facts about them. Let us spark your interest in GIS, and we’ll have a good time along the way.
