Moore County students interested in engineering got insights into the profession from a WithersRavenel engineer at a school program.
Michael Wicker, PE, spoke to West Pine Middle School students about the profession for the school’s Career Development Day on Dec. 10. A Moore County resident, Wicker has been a professional engineer for more than 36 years, focusing primarily on water and wastewater engineering.
Wicker discussed a variety of topics including types of engineers, college courses that students take, and examples of engineering projects. The middle schoolers also tackled a hands-on engineering exercise.
