For Keith Pugh, PE, PWLF, public works is more than a job. It’s a passion that has driven him through years of service to North Carolina municipalities, the American Public Works Association (APWA), and at WithersRavenel.
As a salute to his decades of hard work and service, the North Carolina chapter of the APWA recently renamed its Professional Manager of the Year award in honor of Keith during a ceremony at WithersRavenel’s Cary headquarters.
Currently the national APWA president, Keith has spent the last year traveling across the country sharing his love of public service at APWA conferences, events, and strategic gatherings. Additionally, Keith has previously served the association in a variety of leadership and service roles, including national president elect, Region III director, Council of Chapters – Steering Committee, liaison to the Council of Chapters, Finance Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, and liaison to Center for Sustainability.
The Director of Government Affairs at WithersRavenel, Keith’s previous employment includes more than 30 years in public service for the cities of Greensboro and High Point in a variety of engineering and leadership positions.
“Serving the public in order to improve our communities is such a fulfilling and rewarding career,” Keith said. “My parents taught me to ‘leave things better than I found them.’ I hope at the end of my career I’ve done that and inspired those who came behind me to do the same.”
Keith’s interests also include volunteering. An avid hiker, he is a longtime supporter and fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation through their Trailblaze Challenge. His charitable background also includes volunteer work for the American Red Cross, Cedar Creek Presbyterian Church, and Habitat for Humanity.
Please join us in congratulating Keith on this incredible honor! If you want to put Keith and WithersRavenel’s team to work in your community, reach out to him at 336-906-5500 or kpugh@withersravenel.com.
