WithersRavenel welcomes Jay McLeod, AICP, as the new Director of Community Planning in our Design + Planning Department.
With more than a decade of experience in local governments and the private sector, Jay brings a wealth of planning knowledge to WithersRavenel and our clients. Specifically, Jay spent several years as a planner with the Town of Clayton working on long-range planning, ordinances, zoning, development reviews, and special project management. While in the private sector, he has managed comprehensive plan and development ordinance updates for municipalities across North Carolina, while also specializing in CAMA land use plans and coastal hazard vulnerability planning.
Jay’s blended background allows him to understand the needs and stress points of our municipal clients while translating community values and input into actionable plans. He is committed to effective project management, meeting deadlines, and providing responsive customer service.
“I’m very excited to bring WithersRavenel’s professional expertise to achieve positive community planning outcomes for all the wonderful and unique communities we serve,” he said.
Jay earned a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Florida. Additional degrees include a Master of Science in Urban Ecology from the University of Louisville and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Florida State University. In his free time, he restores, paddles, and sails old fiberglass boats and spends time with his family outdoors or playing games.
