WithersRavenel welcomes Vladimir Mitchev, PE, to our Asset Management team as Director of Pavement Operations.
A licensed professional engineer, Vlad has strong experience in both the public and private sectors, having been part of the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s (NCDOT) Pavement Management Unit for 16 years. Since 2016, he has worked for a private engineering firm, providing his expertise in pavement testing, design and management.
His focus over the years has included everything from design-build projects, pavement scope, review, and value engineering to testing for pavement structural capacity evaluation, pavement forensic analyses, pavement drainage, pavement condition survey evaluation, and infrastructure asset management.
“I am excited to join WithersRavenel to take on this role of helping the asset management team grow and continue assisting and guiding clients with their roadway infrastructure needs,” Vlad said. “I am passionate about sustainable economic development of communities, small and large, and roads are one way people connect and make their community a better place to live.”
He said working with clients to solve their problems and achieve their goals with sometimes-limited resources can be very rewarding. Especially, “seeing cities and towns become great places for citizens to live, work and enjoy their free time.”
In his own free time, Vlad, a father of three teenagers, loves traveling and discovering new places. His ideal way to unwind is strolling through nice walkable communities, parks, and greenways, as well as having a cup of coffee or a drink in local breweries with friends. He stays active by playing and coaching soccer, and hiking.
In addition to his M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Geodesy in Bulgaria, he has an M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
