Steve Lander, a veteran transportation engineer and pavement specialist, joins WithersRavenel as Director of Pavement Management. As a champion of proactive pavement management, he delivers all the services necessary to develop and implement an effective pavement management program. He also raises awareness of pavement condition issues with key decision-makers, including giving persuasive council presentations that provide a defensible case for increasing pavement maintenance funding.
For the past 17 years, Mr. Lander has been passionately dedicated to pavement management. This has included managing and conducting municipal pavement condition surveys (PCS), managing and compiling pavement management system (PMS) deliverables, and developing municipal pavement management plans. He has successfully implemented more than 80 pavement management studies on the East Coast.
When asked what excites him the most about joining the WithersRavenel team, Mr. Lander answered: “The ability to offer our local agency partners comprehensive engineering and asset management services while providing the expertise to secure outside funding to offset the construction costs for much needed infrastructure projects.”
Mr. Lander has another 10 years of experience in broad-based transportation engineering and 3 years in the asphalt pavement construction industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University in New York. In addition, he is a member of the North Carolina Chapter of the American Public Works Association.
