WithersRavenel congratulates Megan Powell as she begins her term as 2024-25 president of the North Carolina Local Government Budget Association (NCLGBA).
The NCLGBA is a professional organization that works to promote the local government budgeting profession with a focus on education, engagement, and networking. The group advocates for its members and their municipalities and actively partners with other organizations to uplift the profession. NCLGBA also provides scholarships to students pursuing careers in local government.
Megan has previously served as a vice president and in other leadership roles with NCLGBA. Before joining WithersRavenel, Megan was the Budget Manager and Internal Auditor for Henderson County. With more than a decade of financial experience in local government, she has a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities that municipal financial leaders face in their day-to-day jobs. In her project manager role at WithersRavenel, she works with local governments across the state on a variety of financial projects.
“I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to lead NCLGBA for the upcoming year,” Megan said. “We have a strong board with varied professional backgrounds from across North Carolina, and this upcoming year we will continue to advance professional growth and opportunity for the budgeting profession in our state.”
Megan has a Master of Public Administration degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Town Administration, City, and County Management, both from Appalachian State University. She has additional academic and professional education from UNC Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University.
A native of Eastern North Carolina, Megan lives in Asheville with her husband Brandon, daughter Piner, and Piper, an Airedale Terrier.
