WithersRavenel once again partnered with the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina for a Virtual Food Drive, this time to counter the effects of COVID-19.
The ESOP Communications Committee led the Virtual Food Drive, which collected monetary donations in lieu of food. The proceeds will help fund the packing and distribution of family-sized boxes, each of which contains 20 meals.
Employee-owners teamed up to represent our six Core Values: Team Respect, Team Integrity, Team Community, Team Sustainability, Team Quality, and our newly debuting Team Collaboration. Each Core Value team’s membership reflects a mix of office locations, disciplines, roles, and tenure lengths. This format encourages our staff to work together across departmental and geographic lines. It also taps into the competitive spirit of many of our staff, who savor a little good-natured rivalry.
Because the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina does not directly serve the communities of our Greensboro and Asheville offices, WithersRavenel committed to making proportional matching donations to local food banks in those areas. Donations went to MANNA Food Bank in Asheville and Out of the Garden Project in Greensboro.
By coming together to support a common cause, we were able to raise several thousand dollars to combat food insecurity in North Carolina. We are proud to be a partner of North Carolina’s food banks in every season and all weathers.
About the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina
An unprecedented number of North Carolinians have been furloughed or unemployed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving them unable to afford essentials like food for themselves or their families. At the same time, limitations on public services have left many children and seniors without access to healthy meals. Amid these challenges, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina has remained open. They continue to stock local partner agencies on the front lines and collaborate with other organizations to reach especially vulnerable groups.
