You only turn 40 once, and WithersRavenel’s gift to its employee-owners and clients to celebrate our company’s milestone anniversary was recently honored with a top AEC marketing award.
WithersRavenel-opoly was recognized with a 2024 Zweig Group Marketing Excellence Award in the Special Events category. The re-imagined Monopoly game incorporated WithersRavenel history, culture, projects, and clients and served as a gift given to employee-owners at our annual Owners’ Day celebration in October 2023. A Monopoly game board has 40 squares, a fitting tie to our company’s 40 years of creating memorable projects for our clients.
Feedback from our employee-owners about WithersRavenel-opoly was overwhelmingly positive. Aspects of the game that team members liked included the game’s visual appeal, its creative and company-specific aspects, and having an Owners’ Day keepsake that they could enjoy with their family and friends. From our core values to stunning drawings of our company’s founders, WithersRavenel touchstones were front and center on the game board and in its play. Especially appreciated were the projects included on game spaces – many WithersRavenel team members were able to point to projects they specifically worked on and clients that they helped to achieve their goals. They were able to recognize their contribution to the company, and that their efforts and successes were being celebrated.
The game also provided an external branding opportunity; we shared WithersRavenel-opoly with private and public sector clients as a gift to celebrate their role in our company’s history.
WithersRavenel Senior Marketing Associate Kari Rands managed the overall creation of the game, taking the lead in all aspects with particular attention to technical design, creativity, and logistics. Other employees involved in the game’s creation included WithersRavenel Chief Experience and Innovation Officer Eddie Staley; Director of Communications and Branding Lena Richards; and Marketing Associates Mike Dale and Casey Swaney.
