WithersRavenel congratulates Carolyn Hawkins, PE, PMP, on her promotion to Director of Water/Wastewater Treatment in our Utilities department.
Carolyn has more than a decade of experience in the industry, and is a talented project engineer and manager who brings in-depth knowledge of chemical and environmental engineering to the design of water and wastewater treatment processes. Carolyn also possesses expertise in plant performance evaluation along with her background designing and optimizing pre-treatment, primary treatment, secondary/biological treatment, and tertiary treatment processes. This skillset enables her to provide tailored solutions to a community’s unique treatment challenges.
One passion of Carolyn’s is improving our state’s drinking water. Her background in research and continuing education makes her an authority on perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and emerging trends in their detection and remediation. She will oversee all WithersRavenel’s treatment plant services, working with engineers and our clients across the state.
“My goal is to support communities in managing their water and wastewater needs, while tackling today’s toughest challenges head-on, such as PFAS, with sustainable solutions that protect public health and the environment for generations to come,” Carolyn said.
Carolyn is a licensed Professional Engineer, Project Management Professional, and is NASSCO certified. She earned a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University. Carolyn enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, nature photography, baking, and has recently joined the NC One Water Triangle Region Member Engagement Community (MEC) as a volunteer.
