Land Development Residential Project Manager Colleen Duryea, PE, was recently honored by the American Council of Engineering Companies of North Carolina (ACEC/NC) with its Young Professional of the Year award for 2023.
Colleen has been working at WithersRavenel for seven years. Her technical design background and collaborative leadership style are just some of the strengths she brings to her role as a manager and engineer on residential housing projects. In addition to her private land development work, Colleen has served as the lead engineer on two high-profile community projects for WithersRavenel: Downtown Cary Park and Higgins Greenway in Cary.
She also exhibits leadership and service through her role as the chair of the WithersRavenel ESOP Communication Committee (ECC). As chairperson, it is her responsibility to help the committee set goals to educate our employee-owners on our Employee-Stock Ownership Plan company and give back to the community that WithersRavenel serves. The position also has extensive involvement in planning and managing our beloved annual Owners’ Day event.
Colleen is a recent graduate of Leadership Cary, Class of 2023. The seven-month program allows participants to interact with key community groups while building leadership skills and strengthening ties to local organizations. She was also a member of the first graduating class for WithersRavenel’s Future Project Manager Academy.
“I was honored when I learned that WithersRavenel nominated me for the ACEC Young Professional award this year. It is hard for me to express the gratitude I have for being recognized by my nomination as well as receiving the award, which I didn’t expect,” Colleen said.
“I have gained valuable insight and direction from my team leaders. This recognition would not have been possible without all the valuable contributions from my team members. Thank you for the respect you have shown me. I am most appreciative to you and all my co-workers.”
Colleen has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a Transportation concentration from North Carolina State University. She has also served the University as a Capstone Senior Design Mentor. Her community involvement includes volunteer work with Adopt-a-Spot in the Town of Cary, Interfaith Food Shuttle, Miracle League, and the Salvation Army.
Please join us in congratulating Colleen on this award!
