Apex’s Pleasant Park is a new recreational gem in the Triangle, estimated to attract more than 2 million visitors within its first year. From its popular athletic fields, tennis and pickleball courts to its signature amenity area, the Enchanted Forest, the park captivates both residents and out-of-town guests.
2024 ACEC Engineering Excellence Award
WithersRavenel received a 2024 Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of North Carolina. The state organization presented the honor at an event on Nov. 14 at the Maxwell in Raleigh.
What did WithersRavenel do at Pleasant Park?
The Pleasant Park project touched virtually all WithersRavenel practice areas, with our firm providing site development, survey, environmental, landscape architecture, parks and recreation, funding, water & sewer utilities, stormwater, and construction administration services. Public engagement was an important part of the project. Understanding the town and community’s hopes and vision was key to developing the park.
The 92-acre site will be developed more with new athletic fields in Phase 2 of the park design.
“The WithersRavenel team was an integral part of the design and development of the crown jewel of the Town of Apex’s park offerings,” said Craig Setzer, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Director.
