The Henderson County Sports Complex, located at Berkeley Park, is designed to bring more sports and recreational opportunities to the community. The site encompasses nearly 40 acres and will feature various amenities and sports facilities, including four FIFA regulation-size artificial turf soccer fields, six tennis courts, and a softball field. The historic Berkeley baseball field, established in 1949, will remain intact.
Funded significantly through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), this $10 million facility expansion will offer new athletic amenities to local sports organizations. An additional $1.3 million is allocated for site enhancements such as upgraded turf and expanded amenities.
WithersRavenel is providing a range of civil engineering and other professional services on an expedited timeline to utilize the ARPA funding. The early due diligence phase led to the development of a concept plan. The preliminary site plan phase included initial project designs along with early plans for landscape architecture, stormwater controls, parking, and streetlights. The next phase focused on permitting, final site plans, construction drawings, and zoning compliance.
The WithersRavenel team worked with Henderson County on bidding and funding administration for the ARPA money that is financing the sports complex. Our team is also assisting with construction administration and observation services throughout the implementation process. Tennoca Construction Company is the contractor.
Construction began in March 2025 and is expected to be completed by September 2026.
