Explore Knight Farm Community Park
Knight Farm Community Park is a 10-acre multi-purpose recreation facility nestled in the Vineyards. The Vineyards is the first residential community in Chatham Park.
Knight Farm Community Park features colorful playhouse equipment, a dragon-shaped climbing gym, and a natural playground with live-edge tree trunk balance beams and slide through a rock garden.
Stormwater features at Knight Farm Community Park
A bioretention area styled as a garden provides stormwater management for the park. WithersRavenel’s stormwater engineers designed the site to incorporate native trees and pollinator plants. They also added layers of natural filter media under the topsoil. Furthermore, the design includes an outflow device to transport runoff into the storm drainage system. Then, WithersRavenel’s graphic designers created educational signage to explain how the garden works hard to protect the environment.
The park also includes a measured walking trail on the perimeter, a large multi-use field, a splash pad with water fountain, and a dog park. A covered pavilion provides public restrooms and several picnic tables.
Plans for expansion
Additional, unused space within the park will remain available for upgrades and future developments as the Town of Pittsboro grows. The programming needs for recreation will also evolve. It will be one part of roughly 2,000 acres planned to be dedicated to open space, parks, and walking trails within the Chatham Park community.
