The Lansing is a condominium development located within Raleigh’s charming Village District. Before site redevelopment and construction, the property was found to have an underground storage tank (UST) and petroleum-impacted soil due to previous uses of the property.
WithersRavenel’s Environmental Geosciences Team assisted the developer with a range of investigatory and remediation services. An initial Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) revealed a non-commercial UST on the property, necessitating a Phase II ESA. The Phase II work involved the location of utilities, soil assessment and laboratory analysis, delineation of any contamination, and a laboratory analysis of groundwater. Based on those results, WithersRavenel contracted with the developer to lead the removal of the UST along with the removal of petroleum-impacted soils.
Further soil testing confirmed the successful removal of the contaminated material, allowing for the successful site redevelopment in downtown Raleigh.
WithersRavenel’s Landscape Architecture Team is also playing a role in the site’s design. Our team has also provided survey, rezoning, civil engineering, and permitting and entitlement services for the condominium development.
