The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary sought to renovate its spa and pool amenity area. As a subconsultant working with Perkins Eastman, WithersRavenel provided a range of civil design, landscape architecture, and construction services.
Initial project due diligence and site work included survey and environmental services along with construction drawings. WithersRavenel landscape architects and engineers then created an enhanced landscape plan which also included a rain garden to serve as a stormwater control measure (SCM). The garden provides an appealing green infrastructure amenity that detains water and filters runoff from the nearby and uphill asphalt. The SCM was designed to be a showcase in front of the hotel, highlighting sustainable practices while visually complementing the overall design enhancements on-site.
WithersRavenel also provided Town of Cary buffer authorization, easement plats, SCM record drawings, as-built certifications, and other documents.
