Inactive Hazardous Site Remediation

Determined to act as good corporate citizens, clients who own or manage sites included on the North Carolina Department
of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) Inactive Hazardous Sites Branch (IHSB) inventory turn to WithersRavenel to provide practical solutions to complex environmental contamination problems.

Under the IHSB Voluntary Remedial Action Program, WithersRavenel investigates and remediates soil and groundwater contaminated sites. Investigation is typically conducted in at least two phases. The first phase involves identifying all releases of hazardous substances and collecting data to compile a list of contaminants of concern. Subsequent phases involve determining the extent of contamination. Based on the findings, WithersRavenel prepares a Remedial Action Plan to clean up the site to meet
human and environmental health standards.

Depending on the type, location, and extent of contamination, WithersRavenel may use conventional or innovative remediation strategies, including bioremediation, thermal soil remediation, air sparging, and encapsulation, to deliver projects with lower impacts to the surrounding environment and often lower costs as well.
