When it comes to Our People, Your Success, we believe that it takes two! This week, we’re highlighting pairs of employees whose strong teamwork has been pivotal for our projects, initiatives, and workflows. Today’s Dynamic Duo is Casey Swaney & Mohsin Syed.
Affectionately dubbed “The Proposal Bros.,” Casey and Mohsin are both Marketing Associates. They not only manage the proposal development process from kick-off to close-out, but also write content for our website and social channels, storyboard and edit videos, and enliven departmental meetings with a signature blend of dry, unexpected humor.
What types of projects you have teamed up on (or will team up on) this year?
Casey: Although we are assigned proposals as individuals, we each rely on the other throughout the proposal process. We bounce ideas off each other for the wording of various sections. We share project examples and best practices. We dissect RFQs together. And I always look to Mohsin for a first proof on any of my articles or proposals because I know that he is diligent, reliable and knows his stuff.
Mohsin: While we have both not formally worked on projects together, it is interesting that we are constantly working together, providing feedback, reviews, and suggestions for each other’s projects. For me, Casey is a sounding board of ideas in whatever I am working on.
What do you enjoy most about working with your partner? What strengths do they bring to your projects?
Casey: Mohsin is easy-going and doesn’t get stressed by deadlines. He is dependable with a great eye for detail. The benefit is that the work both of us do always has an extra layer of editing and consideration. That thoughtfulness and gatekeeping limits mistakes, improves overall quality and gives me (personally) peace of mind when submitting my work.
Mohsin: In addition to his superior work ethic, Casey is the most nonjudgmental person I have met. He will provide advice, give a suggestion, correct you, but never will you get an irate reply, eyerolls, or sighs when you ask for his help, even when he is super busy. And, of course, his time management skills are legendary. Always leaves you asking, how the heck does he do that?”
How do you, WithersRavenel, and/or your clients benefit from this teamwork?
Having a great, supportive co-worker who is also a good friend has helped both Casey and Mohsin get better at what they do and inspired them to do better. They contribute positively to the marketing team, which works primarily with various departments of the firm.
What is one fun thing (outside of work) that you both enjoy?
Mohsin: There’s quite a few things we enjoy. But 80s music and pop culture would definitely be one. We have gone on some long road trips playing the crème dela crème from that era (including hair bands).
Casey: Another fun thing outside of work that we both enjoy is British television shows and movies.
