After more than 40 years as a water and wastewater engineer, WithersRavenel’s Bo Noble, PE, is retiring.
Bo spent the majority of his career as an engineer at Koonce, Noble & Associates (KNA) of Lumberton, starting in 1980. He interned with KNA while in college, and while he worked briefly for the state and a contractor after graduation, he soon returned to his native Lumberton to join KNA. While with the firm, he served many municipal and private clients from across the region, including Robeson County and the City of Lumberton as two of his biggest sources of engineering design work.
Some of his most memorable projects for these clients include a 16 MGD water treatment plant for Lumberton and numerous well treatment, elevated tank, and water line projects for Robeson County. His work on water distribution and wastewater collection and treatment projects were vital not only to residents of these communities, but also provided a lifeline for businesses and growth across southeastern North Carolina. WithersRavenel acquired KNA in 2021.
“I enjoyed working for KNA and WithersRavenel,” he said. While KNA was a small firm and WithersRavenel has more than 400 employees, Bo said he appreciated being a part of the team at both companies. “Everyone at WithersRavenel was wonderful to work with, just really good people.” Bo’s retirement occurred in tandem along with friend and fellow KNA and WithersRavenel employee, designer Cameron Britt.
Bo’s love of math as a high school student convinced him to pursue engineering, and he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University. In retirement, he hopes to spend more time at the beach, “getting things done” around the house, and with his family, which includes his wife Ginger, children Mary and Matthew, and four granddaughters. On his first day of retirement, he came down with COVID, but he’s confident that better days lie ahead.
WithersRavenel wishes Bo well in retirement and his future endeavors!
