Steve Marks rises to the top of WithersRavenel’s Stormwater team as the new Director of Stormwater.
Stormwater and environmental engineering go hand-in-hand, and Steve is a veteran of both. He has more than 12 years of project management experience in stormwater design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and stream and wetland restoration. He has also provided residential drainage design and FEMA floodplain permitting.
More recently, he has begun focusing on the effects of climate change on coastal environments and the need for coastal resiliency. He has performed storm surge modeling and coastal watershed master planning to help clients strengthen their defenses against changing rainfall patterns and sea level rise.
In addition to these areas of expertise, Steve has a background in GIS mapping and analysis and enterprise software development. He will also lend his support to our in-house dam engineering experts by assisting with dam break analysis and Emergency Action Plan (EAP) development as needed.
As a native North Carolinian, I grew up seeing firsthand the devastation hurricanes and flooding wreak on our communities; these experiences have been my driving force as a stormwater engineer. I strive to utilize technology to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions to the difficulties we face managing stormwater. I am excited to be joining a great team at WithersRavenel and look forward to working with the communities of North Carolina to build a better future.”
Steve is a Certified Floodplain Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University.
