November 13 is GIS Day 2019, and WithersRavenel’s Geomatics staff shared knowledge at schools and community events.
GIS refers to Geographic Information Systems technology. Within the GIS framework, professional technicians can organize, visually represent, and analyze data in ways to help solve societal problems.
“Each year we celebrate GIS Day to help others learn about the field of geography and real-world applications of technology,” WithersRavenel GIS Manager Brandon Inscore said. “Sharing this information in our local schools provides an opportunity to show students how they can pair their academic studies with GIS technology to make a difference in the world.”
Inscore spoke to children from Episcopal Day School in Southern Pines. GIS Technicians Bryce Gardner and Justin Richardson presented a program at Triangle School of Math and Science in Cary. Also, WithersRavenel sponsored the Triad GIS Day hosted by Map Forsyth at Triad Park in Kernersville.
