Employee wellness, both physical and mental, should be a vital consideration in every company’s workplace. As an employee-owned company, WithersRavenel recognizes health and wellness as a way of supporting not only ourselves and our colleagues, but also our clients and the communities we serve.
WithersRavenel was recently honored as one of the healthiest firms in the Triangle. Our company finished in 4th place among small companies in the annual Healthiest Employers awards program. Wellness initiatives at WithersRavenel focus not only on employee physical well-being, but also mental/emotional and financial well-being. From quarterly team contests focused on encouraging health behaviors and habits, to interactive sessions sharing best practices and ideas, WithersRavenel’s Thrive Wellbeing Program aims to provide a variety of options for employees to pursue health and wellness.
Many of these program ideas come from our THRIVE committee, which includes individuals from throughout our company, and is committed to supporting employee health. The committee solicits feedback from employees and meets to plan wellness program activities that meet the diverse needs of our team. These ideas are then incorporated into our overall program.
Additionally, our company moved to mostly remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic, and continues to offer work from home and hybrid options to employees while promoting safe behavior for current office staff.
I am most excited to see how our Thrive Wellbeing program has gone from feeling like an HR program’, to feeling like an embedded part of our company culture,WithersRavenel Chief People Officer Jess Vollmer said. While COVID was difficult in so many ways, we saw a shift of mindset in how important supporting wellbeing was to our people and company; and we saw more support for the humanizing’ of the workplace.
As we continue to navigate COVID and hybrid work culture, Thrive Wellbeing is at the center of our strategies versus a nice add-on. It is a welcome change and one that will be key to our success going forward.”
The Healthiest Employers program recognizes companies of all sizes and industries from across the country for their wellness initiatives. Categories evaluated include: Culture and Leadership Commitment, Foundational Components, Strategic Planning, Communications and Marketing, Programming and Interventions, and Reporting and Analytics.
