WithersRavenel Director of Design Daniel Whatley, PLA, ASLA, CID, has been selected as one of the Triangle Business Journal’s 2024 40 Under 40 Award winners.
TBJ’s annual 40 Under 40 awards salute the top young community and business leaders in the region. Daniel and the other recipients will be recognized during a special event on June 12 at Fletcher Opera Theater in Raleigh.
At WithersRavenel, Daniel works with landscape architects and designers to elevate the design quality of projects to continue to drive client satisfaction while promoting overall growth. Daniel developed an internal design process for the landscape architecture group which includes guiding principles to apply to each project. He inspires creativity, passion for design, and thoughtful execution from our Design+Planning team members.
During 2023, he has led key projects including a 1,400-acre Agritourism Village Master Plan, an outdoor expansion at the Umstead Hotel, and the design of Hayes Barton Place, and Searstone Senior Living Amenities, to name a few.
Away from work, Daniel serves as a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Raleigh, just two blocks away from WithersRavenel’s office. A Wake County native, the church is the one that Daniel grew up attending. He is also captain of his son’s YMCA Y guides group, which has participated in many greenway clean-ups in the area.
Daniel is married to Lane, and the couple are proud parents of Eli, 7, and Reese, 4. The family loves to travel together and looks forward to more adventures in the years to come.
