Geomatics Department Manager

Geomatics Department Manager

WithersRavenel, Inc. seeks a seasoned professional with management experience to join our firm as Manager of our 45+ person Geomatics Department in Cary, North Carolina. The Department currently offers GIS, SUE, UAS, Laser Scanning, Hydrographic and traditional land surveying to support both the public and private sector markets. The ideal candidate will have a PLS with a solid track record in land surveying with experience in the delivery of property, design and construction surveying in a firm offering civil / environmental engineering services.

The Geomatics Department Manager will lead with ultimate responsibility for strategic planning, technological advancement, business development, recruitment & retention, financial performance and overall quality for the group. Ultimately the GDM will expand the practice of Geomatics into our other North Carolina offices.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 10-15+ years’ experience in Land Surveying/Geomatics.
  • North Carolina PLS required (or ability to obtain via reciprocity).
  • 5-10 years demonstrated experience supervising and successfully managing projects within the constraints of time, cost, and performance requirements, providing technical oversight for projects and all related project phases and tasks, to include quality assurance reviews.
  • Experience in researching and performing property boundary and right-of-way research and analysis, performing and supervising GPS (Static, Rapid Static and RTK) field operations, construction staking, topographic surveys and boundary mapping for subdivisions, land conveyance, etc.

Land Development Project Manager Candidates – Downtown Raleigh, Cary & Wilmington offices

WithersRavenel, an ESOP company, is seeking Land Development project managers in our offices listed above. The ideal candidates will have 10+ years’ experience in design of land development related projects including site plan & construction drawings production, stormwater drainage and stormwater management design, site grading, site utilities and erosion control. The position will be responsible for managing projects and overseeing design teams for parks, mixed-use, commercial, residential, and urban design projects. Candidates should have a Bachelors or Masters in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, strong proficiency in AutoCAD and excellent writing and communication skills.

Landscape Architect Project Manager – Downtown Raleigh office

The Landscape Architect is responsible for the completing landscape architecture tasks and projects. He/she will work with a multidisciplinary team of landscape architects, civil engineers, surveyors, designers, and other project managers to continue providing exceptional service and designs for our clients. The Landscape Architect will work with the entire team to develop site designs, land planning, report preparation, construction documentation, client meetings, planting, irrigation calculations, etc. Using generally accepted sustainable practices, project management software, and AutoCAD, Sketch-up, and Adobe Suite, the Landscape Architect will help to maintain profitability of projects, client relationships, business development, drawings, and the specifications library.

The Landscape Architect should hold 5+ years of designing and drafting landscape architecture projects, including all aspects of residential, commercial and municipal site development. He/she must possess a commanding knowledge of landscape architectural practices, including, but not limited to, preparation of construction documents, plant materials, irrigation strategies and current irrigation regulations, construction detailing, structural design and lighting practices.   • Able to work with minimal direction and minimal supervision to produce engineering documents and related material
  • Ability to develop working drawings for civil site plans (grading, drainage, and paving) from sketches (determines scales, layout, and need for specific detail)

This person is responsible for the operation of a field survey crew. Organizing field work, directing crew members, maintaining safe work environment, protecting and maintaining the equipment and vehicles, accurately and efficiently collecting field data and locating features, delivering data to the office, maintaining accurate records of work and expenses.

Primary tasks will be centered around residential lot surveys and construction layout for houses.

Qualification/Requirements:

Valid driver’s license required. Background check as well as DMV records will be conducted for position.

Survey Instrument Operator - Cary Office

Position Summary:

This person is responsible for assisting the Crew Chief in the operation of a field survey crew. Work as a member of the survey crew performing field boundary, topography, ALTA, right of way, and construction surveys for both public and private clients. The major objectives are the quality (accuracy, thoroughness, meets regulatory requirements, public relations) of work, safety, and maintenance of equipment. Operating equipment, maintaining safe work environment, protecting and maintaining the equipment and vehicles, accurately and efficiently collecting field data and locating features.

Must be able to work in all weather conditions and walking ability to maneuver in all geographical terrain

Primary tasks will be centered around residential lot surveys and construction layout for houses.

Qualification/Requirements:

Valid driver’s license and high school diploma or GED. Good technical skills; behavioral traits of process oriented, steady, helpful, analytical, problem solver, likes work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail oriented, precise, hates mistakes, likes structure. Experience a plus in survey field operations, with survey equipment operational knowledge.
