WithersRavenel Director of Parks and Recreation Brian Starkey, PLA, ASLA, is starting a new term as a national ASLA trustee, representing the North Carolina chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (NCASLA).

Brian has more than 30 years of experience as a Professional Landscape Architect, specializing in the planning and design of parks and public spaces. He has led more than two dozen public park projects across North Carolina to successful completion, several of which have received local and state awards.

As a trustee, Brian serves as a communications link between the national board and the North Carolina chapter while also working with other board members to establish policies, strategic objectives and priorities for ASLA.

“I view the role of Trustee as an opportunity to give back to the organization that promotes and defends the profession of Landscape Architecture,” he said. Brian’s appointment is for three years, marking his second term as a trustee for North Carolina.

Brian has served NCASLA in several roles, including time as the chapter’s president. Additionally, he also served a decade on the NC Board for Landscape Architects, more than half of that time as the chairman.

Brian has a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from West Virginia University. WithersRavenel congratulates Brian on his continued service to NCASLA!
