As Clayton continues to grow and thrive, so do the Town’s recreational facilities. A ribbon-cutting ceremony March 3 marked a large expansion at Clayton Community Park.
Among the new additions are tennis and pickleball courts, bocce and shuffleboard courts, a playground, enhancements to existing walkways, and a new pedestrian walkway linking two previously disconnected areas of the park. The project also includes the expansion of parking areas, a new stormwater control measure, and greenway trail connection.
WithersRavenel worked with the Town on this exciting expansion, providing overall project management, design and preparation of construction documents, local and state permitting services, and construction administration and observation.
Curt Blazier, PE, is WithersRavenel’s Director of Engineering for Design + Planning, and also served as Project Manager for the Clayton Community Park expansion.
“It’s a pleasure to be able to see this park grow and strengthen the opportunities that the citizens of Clayton and visitors have to play racket sports and exercise, as well as allowing the Town to host the Senior Games with updated facilities,” Curt said. “We enjoyed being able to collaborate with the team at the Town over the past couple years to bring their vision to reality.”
We are thrilled to help the Town of Clayton upgrade this beautiful facility. If you would like to start a conversation about park improvements or facility assessments, reach out to our Parks and Recreation Director Brian Starkey, PLA, ASLA, at 919-238-0305 or bstarkey@withersravenel.com.
