As North Carolina continues to attract new businesses amid a flurry of economic development, more sites need to be identified and prepared for the next wave of companies who want to move to or expand in the Tar Heel state.
With that in mind, the North Carolina Economic Development Association (NCEDA) and WithersRavenel are presenting a webinar at 1 p.m. Feb. 22 titled “Restocking N.C.’s Product Inventory Part IV: Technical Issues and Due Diligence.” The webinar will focus on the site due diligence process with the ultimate goal of creating more sites that are ready for economic development. Due diligence topics addressed will include:
- Site master planning process
- Zoning considerations
- Transportation
- Environmental issues
- Utility & infrastructure availability
- Geotechnical considerations
Moderating the discussion will be Andre Lennon, PE, of Civil & Environmental Consultants (CEC). A Principal at CEC, Andre’s engineering experience ranges from commercial and residential development to educational facilities and the power industry.
Sponsor WithersRavenel will be represented on the discussion panel by Growth Officer Jason Bertoncino, PE, LEED AP. His more than 25 years of engineering experience includes numerous projects focused on economic development and due diligence. He has helped municipal clients with site development that brought hundreds of jobs to North Carolina communities, including projects for Bharat Forge in Sanford and Amazon in Garner. Jason is currently part of the WithersRavenel team working with Golden LEAF on its transformational SITE program that helps rural and distressed communities prepare sites to attract new businesses and spur economic growth.
Also on the panel will be Joe Starr, PE, of Terracon Consultants. A Principal and Client Development Manager with Terracon, Joe has more than 25 years of experience and specializes in redevelopment projects involving Brownfields sites.
