Through a partnership with nonprofits Purpose-Built Communities, the Southeast Raleigh Promise, and Wake County Public Schools, the YMCA of the Triangle created a community asset. The new Southeast Raleigh YMCA facility, a public elementary school, approximately 120 affordable housing units, and community serving commercial uses.
WithersRavenel has guided the YMCA throughout this entire process. WithersRavenel provided the following for the 115,000-square-foot YMCA and Wake County elementary school:
- Site selection
- Master planning
- Civil engineering
- Environmental services
- Surveying
- Landscape architecture
The site sits on 31 acres and also has a pool, pool house, bus drop off, playground areas and multi-purpose athletic field.
Educational components include sustainable elements such as rainwater cistern water capture for irrigation and the integration of solar panels into the landscape.
