WithersRavenel welcomes Malak Bahrami, PE, DPE, CPPS as our company’s new Director of Asset Management.
A longtime professional engineer and program manager, Malak brings a bounty of experience in asset management, including asset inventory, condition assessment, process development, and capital improvement planning. His background also includes experience in infrastructure engineering, land development, and construction services.
Most recently, he has served as the Asset Management Program Manager at Fairfax County (Va.) Park Authority. In that role, he spearheaded the analysis of the existing asset management program and developed innovative new process recommendations and a 5-year plan which included budgeting, resourcing, and scheduling. Prior to that, Malak was Pipes & Structures Section Chief for Fairfax County Stormwater Infrastructure, where he managed a team focused on overall quality and asset management and a variety of rehabilitation and repair projects. In addition to his years of public service, Malak has more than 10 years of experience in the private sector, specializing in land development and inspection services.
His experience with public sector asset management and infrastructure coupled with his understanding of the private sector will be a benefit to our clients looking to better comprehend the existing condition of their systems while smartly planning for their future.
“Each stage of my career to date has led me to WithersRavenel,” Malak said. “I am excited to be joining a company whose mission, culture, and values so closely align with my own. I look forward to what we can do together!”
Malak earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech University and an Associate of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Montgomery College. He is NASSCO-certified with additional experience and certifications in bridge safety and inspections. Malak stays pretty busy with 5 kids and a rambunctious chocolate lab. In his free time, he enjoys working with his hands or with anything that has an engine. He also enjoys experimenting in the kitchen and on the grill. The art of creating, whether in the kitchen or in the workshop, is his passion.
