WithersRavenel’s Pavement Management team recently hosted another engaging Lunch & Learn webinar, Reducing Reflective Cracking in Concrete Using an ARMI Overlay, featuring Phil Blankenship, President of BATT – Blankenship Asphalt Tech & Training, and hosted by Steve Lander, PE, Director of Pavement Management at WithersRavenel.
During the session, attendees explored the science and performance behind Reflective Crack Relief Asphalt Interlayer (RCRAI), a next-generation solution designed to reduce reflective cracking and extend pavement life. Blankenship discussed how RCRAI uses a high asphalt content, small aggregate mix infused with aramid fiber, a material stronger than steel, to absorb crack movement, improve ride quality, and create an impermeable, durable surface.
The presentation covered the history, design process, and successful implementation of RCRAI systems across the U.S. and Canada. Participants gained insight into how this technology enables quicker return to traffic, longer-lasting pavements, and significant cost savings compared to traditional mill-and-overlay methods.
If you missed the live event or would like to revisit the discussion, you can watch the full recording below and learn how RCRAI is redefining pavement performance.
