WithersRavenel is saddened to share that Brian Bellis, PG, an Environmental Senior Technical Consultant based in our Wilmington office, passed away on September 3, 2026, following a brief illness.
Brian joined WithersRavenel in 2002 and was part of our team for nearly 24 years. A licensed Professional Geologist with more than 40 years of experience, he managed and directed environmental contamination assessment and remediation projects under a wide range of federal and state regulatory programs. He held a master’s degree in hydrogeology from North Carolina State University and a bachelor’s degree in geological sciences from Brown University.
Brian was a man of many talents who brought tremendous technical expertise, a brilliant and curious mind, and a genuine passion for his work.
Director of Natural Resources Troy Beasley worked alongside Brian in WithersRavenel’s Wilmington office for more than two decades.
“Brian and I worked together for more than 20 years, always a couple of office doors away from each other. Over that time, we were both colleagues and good friends,” Troy said. “Brian was one of the smartest people I’ve ever known. He was an expert in his field at the highest level, and his professional reputation reflected that. I could always count on Brian for insightful conversation, a good laugh, and sage wisdom on both professional and personal situations. Brian will be missed both in the environmental profession and on a personal level.”
More importantly, Brian was a valued friend and colleague to many across WithersRavenel. His loss will be felt throughout our organization, and he will be greatly missed.
Please keep Brian’s family, friends, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
