SearStone is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) that offers assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory support to independent and active residents aged 62 and above. WithersRavenel has been involved in multiple areas of the community’s development since its inception. Services have included surveying, civil site design, and specialized stormwater management.
During Phase 1, WithersRavenel provided full site design services for the SearStone medical office building and parking located along Walker Stone Drive. The firm also provided site design, utility design, and permitting for the proposed expansion of the existing healthcare building.
In Phase 2, WithersRavenel helped with rezoning for Searstone North. They also provided full site design services for the CCRC expansion.
The 75-acre community uses a high-hazard dam, designed by WithersRavenel, as a stormwater management device and focal amenity. The design includes special flood control measures for one-third of the Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP). It also works with the architect’s aesthetic vision. The dam was successfully permitted through the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (formerly Department of Environment and Natural Resources) Dam Safety Program.
WithersRavenel is proud to add unique design features to the site. We collaborated with our excellent partners on this project. They are Stewart & Conners Architects and Clancy & Theys Construction Company.
