WithersRavenel assisted the Town of Weaverville with the creation of a comprehensive ADA Transition Plan.
The process began with internal and external facility reviews. WithersRavenel assessed the Town Hall, fire station, police station, public works facility, water treatment plant, and parks facilities. All vertical facilities were evaluated according to ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) methodology. The team noted any non-compliant features in ADAAG Checklists.
WithersRavenel also assessed pedestrian facilities. All horizontal infrastructure was evaluated according to Public Rights-of-Way Guidelines (PROWAG) methodology and photographed.
WithersRavenel used a customized ESRI Collector application to spatially locate and document non-compliant vertical and horizontal features.
Next, the team consulted with the Town to identify an ADA Coordinator and ADA Administrator:
These individuals were essential for soliciting public input while developing a policy statement and grievance procedures.
The final report included a comprehensive overview of the Weaverville ADA program and a five-year plan to address non-compliant features at vertical and horizontal facilities.
