The American Council of Engineering Companies of North Carolina (ACEC/NC) is hosting a Buildings and Infrastructure Symposium on mixed use and military infrastructure investments, and WithersRavenel will be leading one of the events.
The symposium is set for 8-11:30 a.m. Feb. 8 at the Marriott Crabtree Valley in Raleigh. WithersRavenel’s Chief Strategy Officer Brock Storrusten will moderate the morning’s second discussion on mixed-use infrastructure investments, which will focus on the Smoky Hollow development in downtown Raleigh. Panel members will be:

Smoky Hollow is a multiphase revitalization envisioned as a distinctive urban area in downtown Raleigh. The first project phase includes a 45,000-square-foot Publix grocery store and 5,000 square feet of additional ground floor retail space. The 12-story building also includes upper floors occupied by 417 premium apartment dwellings (Peace Raleigh Apartments) including a mix of studios and 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom residences. The site also includes an 83,000-square-foot parking garage underneath the grocer, and a 7-level, 206,000-square-foot post-tensioned parking deck. Street redesigns by WithersRavenel and the City enhance the project and improve pedestrian, resident, and consumer connectivity.
Phase II involves the construction of office space, structured parking, more apartments, and a pedestrian promenade surrounded by 40,000 SF of street-level restaurants and retail.
WithersRavenel is providing comprehensive land development services for the Smoky Hollow project, including environmental assessment/remediation, survey, land planning, landscape architecture, and civil engineering. Our team led the site plan approval and permitting processes with the City of Raleigh.
