Laura Elliott chosen for Leadership Greensboro 2020
WithersRavenel’s Laura Elliott has been selected to be a member of the Leadership Greensboro Class of 2020.
The longtime initiative, sponsored by the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, is a nine-month leadership development program. The latest class kicked off recently with orientation and training.
The 2020 class is focused on understanding and alleviating poverty in the Greensboro area. “I’ve been stunned to learn the statistics on local poverty and the number of nonprofits trying to combat it,” Elliott said.
A Project Geologist based in the Greensboro office, Elliott has been with WithersRavenel since 2018. Her ties to Greensboro, though, run deep. Her mother graduated from Greensboro College, and Elliott remembers spending time in the area as a child. As part of her professional work, she’s been working on the Greensboro City Landfill since 2012.
Elliott and her husband moved to Greensboro in July after almost 10 years in Durham. While in the Triangle, Elliott was involved with Engineers Without Borders, Neighbor to Neighbor, Habitat for Humanity, the Food Bank of CENC, and groups at Edenton Street United Methodist Church.
Elliott is a graduate of The College of William & Mary, and earned her graduate degree from Vanderbilt University. Before joining WithersRavenel, she spent three years working for the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Water Resources.
“I’m really excited to learn about Greensboro’s businesses and communities; their strengths, weaknesses, and how I can get involved in ways that will help people and contribute to the Triad in positive ways,” Elliott said.
Congratulations to Laura and the other leaders selected for the Leadership Greensboro Class of 2020!
