Local governments are one step closer to making vital stormwater improvements thanks to recent funding secured through the state of North Carolina and the federal government.
WithersRavenel’s Funding and Asset Management team, along with members of our Stormwater Department, worked with municipalities across the state on budgets and applications for the Local Assistance for Stormwater Infrastructure Investments (LASII) program funding. The newly-created program’s $82 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding was partially awarded by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) through its Division of Water Infrastructure.
The competitive process aims to provide funding for “cities, counties, regional councils of government and nonprofit partners for construction and planning projects that will improve or create infrastructure for controlling stormwater quantity and quality.”
WithersRavenel local government clients earned more than $12 million in funding for a range of critical stormwater projects. The winners were:
- Town of Black Mountain: $400,000 for planning, $5 million for construction
- City of Dunn: $490,340 for construction
- City of Morganton: $400,000 for planning
- Town of New Bern: $400,000 for planning, $4,149,360 for construction
- Town of Siler City: $500,000 for planning
- Town of Swansboro: $400,000 for planning
- Town of Waynesville: $400,000 for planning
Further planning grants will be available from this program in the spring, and WithersRavenel is ready to help your community pursue opportunities.
These recent application successes have pushed WithersRavenel’s municipal funding total over $911 million.
