Strickland Road Neighborhood Park welcomed families, neighbors, and park goers back to one of northwest Raleigh’s community green spaces on June 24, 2026, during a reopening celebration for the park’s newest improvements.
The event marked the completion of updates designed to enhance play, accessibility, comfort, and the overall visitor experience at the Raleigh neighborhood park. On a bright, sunny afternoon, natural shade from the surrounding trees helped keep the play areas cool and inviting as children explored the updated playground spaces and families gathered throughout the park.
Stephen Bentley, Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources for the City of Raleigh, spoke to attendees to officially commence the event and recognize the role parks play in supporting active, connected communities.
The celebration also included the Raleigh Police Department and Raleigh Mounted Unit, giving attendees of all ages the opportunity to interact with officers and police horses while learning more about community resources.
