WithersRavenel President and CEO Jim Canfield has once again been named to Business North Carolina’s Power List, marking his fourth consecutive year among the state’s most influential private-sector leaders.
Published annually, the Business North Carolina Power List recognizes leaders whose work helps shape the state’s business climate, economy, and communities. The list highlights professionals across a range of industries who are guiding organizations, advancing growth, and contributing to North Carolina’s continued success.
For WithersRavenel, Jim’s recognition reflects more than an individual honor. It represents the steady growth of an employee-owned firm that continues to expand its services, strengthen client partnerships, and invest in communities across North Carolina and the Southeast.
Jim joined WithersRavenel in 1990 and has served as president since 2013. During his tenure, the firm has grown into a multidisciplinary engineering, planning, and consulting company serving public- and private-sector clients throughout the region. His leadership has also been central to WithersRavenel’s transition to a 100% Employee Stock Ownership Plan company, creating a culture where employees share directly in the firm’s success and long-term future.
That employee-owner mindset continues to shape how WithersRavenel approaches its work. Guided by the firm’s core values of integrity, respect, collaboration, quality, sustainability, and community, Jim has championed a culture focused on client service, professional growth, innovation, and meaningful impact.
Today, WithersRavenel’s more than 460 employee-owners provide a broad range of services, including Design + Planning, Land and Site Development, Water & Sewer Utilities, Environmental, Stormwater, Geomatics, GIS, Funding and Infrastructure Asset Management, and related consulting services. The firm is headquartered in Cary and has offices across North Carolina, supporting communities from the mountains to the coast.
Business North Carolina has also recognized WithersRavenel in recent years through its Mid-Market 40 list, which highlights fast-growing companies across the state.
WithersRavenel congratulates Jim on this continued recognition and celebrates the employee-owners whose work helps move the firm, its clients, and its communities forward.
